Dave Jackson
00:00:03.520 - 00:04:29.750
Welcome to the podcast Rodeo show. I'm your host, Dave jackson from the schoolofpodcasting.com you're new to the show.
This is where we grab a random podcast and see how long I can hang on. Then I give you an honest opinion that it's a first impression. And so this whole show, there's no show prep. This is me.
It's kind of fun because I don't read very well, but we'll try it the show. And that's why if you're like, hey, a new episode. Yep, I heard this and I was like, I'm gonna give this a listen just simply by the name.
It was talk copy to me, which makes me flashback to poison from the 80s. Like, come on baby, talk copy to me. Aaron, pick up that copy and talk to me. It's from. And I can't pronounce her last name. Aaron Olilla.
Aaronalillilla.com podcast It's a weekly podcast and her literally I could do 15 minutes reading her introduction. So let's do the beginning and we'll quit about halfway.
Because I think about halfway she just starts throwing in keywords to attract people, which would make sense from a copywriter.
But the beginning of this says Talk copy to me is your go to resource for transforming your business's message into into meaningful connections and measurable results. Whether you're diving into SEO, crafting website coffee that converts. Yep, converts.
Or building your brand story, each episode delivers actionable strategies you can implement right away. Your host, Aaron Olilla. It's either Olila or Alila. Is a sought after content strategist and X E O, that's a whole different kind of.
Yeah, that's on Twitter. SEO expert. I told you my reading is not up today.
Who's helped brands like Oracle, Amazon Hills, Pet, as well as many other billion dollar brands and itty bitty businesses achieve tens of thousands of monthly visits and more importantly, conversions. With an MFA master in frickin awesome. I don't know what that stands for.
In creative writing and years of experience blending data driven strategies with authentic storytelling, Aaron brings both expertise and approachability to everyone. And I'm here to tell you there's another five episodes. We'll go one more here.
The show is crafted specifically for small business owners, solopreneurs, creatives and growing businesses who know they need to level up their marketing but feel overwhelmed by where to start. Each week you'll get deep dive. Do deep dive. Nah, come on. A copywriter wouldn't use AI to write their copy. Would now not Aaron.
I don't know Aaron, but that would be very weird.
But anyway, each week you'll get deep dive discussions and expert interviews covering everything from website optimization and SEO fundamentals to email marketing strategies and social media success. Which is where I'm like, I think towards the end of this, I don't know, I could be wrong. A, why not use all 4,000 characters?
But it just seems like it goes on and on. And you had me sold after, like the first three, three sentences. Again, it's Aaron. E R I N O L. And this is where I need new glasses. O L L I L A.
There's a lot of A's in there.com podcast and looking at most of her episodes are around 20 minutes. And I think we're gonna go with Aiogeo or SEO how to tackle Modern Search Optimization. Right after this.
The following is an opinion and only an opinion. These are actual honest first impressions. If you don't like the opinion, feel free to never listen again. All right?
And in case you're wondering, I found Aaron on the Pod Match site and I was like, oh, talk copy to me. I love storytelling. Copywriting, I love. That's all marketing to me. And so we are going.
I've picked this episode again because in theory, I should like this show. And so hence I was like, hey, I haven't done a rodeo show in forever. It's still here, by the way.
I'm just not doing it for free unless there's something like this where I'm like, well, let's bring everyone along to talk first impressions and opinions. So here we go.
Erin Ollila
00:04:31.510 - 00:04:32.470
Nobody sees.
Dave Jackson
00:04:32.470 - 00:04:32.950
Hold on.
Erin Ollila
00:04:33.430 - 00:05:14.100
You are creating content that nobody sees. Why? Because you're spending too much time worrying about whether you need to impress search engines or AI tools.
And in the time that you do spend optimizing, it's going to go to waste if you aren't taking a layered approach to optimizing your content. Hey, friends, welcome to the Top Copy to Me podcast.
Here we empower small business owners to stay step into the spotlight with their marketing and messaging. I'm your host, Erin Olla Olilla.
Dave Jackson
00:05:14.260 - 00:05:17.700
There we go. Now we know how to say it started.
Erin Ollila
00:05:17.700 - 00:05:19.140
And talk copy.
Dave Jackson
00:05:19.860 - 00:05:29.540
Okay, so first things first. Nice hook. I know what the show's about. I know what the episode's about. And we're at 43 seconds in Primo. Like a.
Erin Ollila
00:05:30.980 - 00:06:37.640
Today we're gonna talk about understanding the optimization landscape before we get into some SEO tactics or AIO tactics or gio, because nobody knows what to call It. And these days, here's what I see happening.
So many business owners or creatives, solopreneurs, they hear about things like AI overviews and AI powered search and they panic.
In the panic, what they're doing is they're either ignoring it completely or they're abandoning traditional SEO work to chase this brand new exciting thing of AI optimization. Both approaches are wrong. I think you knew that.
I would say ignoring it's wrong, but chasing this brand new excited AI thing where you have experts that are telling you this is exactly what you have to do to show up in AI search, wrong. We're going to cover the basics of AIO SEO and the difference between the two in this episode.
Dave Jackson
00:06:37.960 - 00:07:21.330
Okay? Now, in theory, the next thing out of her mouth, what I'm expecting is her to tell me what to do because she just said, hey, these are both wrong.
I'm going to tell you what it is, and either it's a story to help illustrate this point or. Or we're jumping into the pool because right now I'm like, cool, you got me hooked. You explained what not to do.
Now I'm waiting for what to do, and we are not even at two minutes. So, all right, let's get to it. So this is where she's either going to slam dunk it or drop the ball. And let's see, I'm dying to see.
Erin Ollila
00:07:22.300 - 00:07:53.470
Talk about how the two approaches work together instead of replacing each other and what you should actually do with your content to show up in search, to show up in the results from AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT. Okay, let's start with traditional SEO, because it's not going anywhere.
And in fact, I would stake a claim to say that if you don't have a foundation for traditional SEO, you're. You're not showing up in those AI results no matter what.
Dave Jackson
00:07:54.270 - 00:08:03.550
Preach, sister. I'm. I'm doubling down on SEO right now because everybody else has abandoned it. I'm like, okay, I'll take that, I'll take that traffic. Thank you.
Erin Ollila
00:08:04.350 - 00:08:20.100
When someone does a search on a tool like Google or Bing or any search engine, they're still getting traditional results. Sure. There may be some type of an AI overview, which we'll actually talk about next episode of the podcast.
Dave Jackson
00:08:20.340 - 00:08:22.660
Nice tease. All right.
Erin Ollila
00:08:22.660 - 00:09:52.600
I like that underneath the AI overview, if it appears, will be a list of links which are websites that will show up. And those are there based on relevance, authority, user experience, technical setup.
All SEO things that we have been doing since we started paying attention to content optimization Traditional SEO is about making sure that your website and your content is attractive to search engines so that you can rank higher in those results. Those basics have not and will not change. One, your website needs to be technically sound.
This means you need fast loading times, a mobile friendly design, secure connections, a clear site structure, pay on page hierarchy.
Because search engines prioritize websites that provide good user experience and they also prioritize websites that they can interpret easily and quickly. This is bringing me to two, which is content that you have on your site needs to be both valuable and relevant.
Long gone are the times where you could trick search engines with stuffing keywords or having thin contact and boo to people who did that anyway. Because why are we putting more and more junk on the Internet? We want to put good quality content out there.
Dave Jackson
00:09:52.999 - 00:12:20.960
And the all right, I am at the almost five minute mark and I want to hear the rest of that. That's really basically the test here. Like, hey, did you get to the point? Did you not sound like you were in a tunnel?
Did you not beg me for money in the first 15 seconds? Did you bombard me with advertisements that don't even closely, you know, resonate with me? I had some today where I do not speak Spanish.
Nothing against people that speak Spanish, but I do not. And I just feel bad when some advertiser who is not speaking English is promoting their product to me.
To which, to the point I go, yeah, there's money wasted. So yeah, I would listen to this and I am going to go into my pocket cast and click on follow and add this to my marketing channel.
And until she gives me a reason not to, I'm going to keep listening to her show. I like, she seems real to me. Like, hey, people are saying this. This is why it's true. She backs up what she says with experience.
Again, I believe I just, I don't know, she sounds trustworthy. I didn't hear a lot of pimping stuff at this point.
She's just doing data and so yeah, not a bad show talk copy to me and I'll have links out in the show notes. Now if you would like to have your show reviewed on the Podcast Rodeo show, it's simple.
I listen to like the first five minutes or so and give you an honest first impression. There's a button out there, you can order one and if you want a full review, check out Podcast hot seat dot com.
That's where I listen to the whole thing. I check out your website, I bring you on and let you know what you're doing good, so you can do more of that.
And then I go, you know this part, you know, that kind of stuff. So you can really get your show pointed in the right direction. Make sure you also fill out a form.
So I know what are you trying to do with your podcast? Because in some cases my favorite was somebody who had a podcast to promote her book and then she forgot to promote her book.
And sometimes we're just too close to see stuff like that. So thanks so much. Podcastradioshow.com is the website. I'm Dave Jackson from the schoolofpodcasting.com I help podcasters. That's what I do.
Been doing it for 20 years, and I can't wait to see what we do together.
