Opinion:

I'm not sure anyone is going to get the "typewriters in the background / News" reference (and they may just be distracting).

The intro, I would run the intro, then state that today's show was about frogs, then play the illegal clip of Mitch Hedberg talking about frogs. I'm not sure the news story was "our top story" worthy (of being at the top of the show). I would put news at the back of the show (in case it gets dated). if you had done the show in this order:

People might care more about news about frogs after hearing about how cool they are.
